Hidan mumbled in his sleep, scared and uncertain. Someone was in his head, whispering. Come to me, it said. Leave this dimension. He didn't want to. He wanted to remain here, with them. The child awakened and stared at the wall, a knot in his chest where his heart should be. It was an unbearable emotional pain. His conscience was drawn to the instructions; His mind. But not his heart. One small hand went around the amulet at his throat. "Help me."Who was he reaching out to? His mother? He had no idea, but something in him wanted assistance from someone else. Someone more important. Did that make sense? Hidan slid out from beneath the sheets and went to the door. What am I doing? He opened it and wandered out against his own will. With tears in his eyes, he continued on and reached the outside world. Something compelled him to be out here, in the sunlight. Hidan calmed down a bit. That wasn't so bad. Was this all he wanted to do? He smiled and scanned the area as he toured the streets. His heart told him it was time to turn around, but his mind forced him onward.

"I don't want to!"Hidan sobbed. "Leave me alone!"He sat beneath a sakura tree, in the shadows, where he remained since the butterfly had come to him. He wasn't dumb. It was from that man in his head. The one who wanted him to become his follower. But he wouldn't let it. He would clutch the earth beneath him and scream if he had to. All he wanted was to be with his father and sister. How could he tell him that he could do so much more in his dimension? What was a dimension? Sure, he wanted to leave to become stronger earlier on, but that was before he realized how much he loved Kenpachi and Yachiru. He curled into a ball and sobbed harder. When his tears ran out, the butterfly came near enough to tickle his arm. Are you done, child? the man in his head wondered. Hidan had no chance to answer. His entire body was dragged through the grass, towards a door that he remembered too well. He screamed, so loud it could rouse the dead - literally. With the little strength he possessed, he clawed at the soil and tried to hold onto it. He continued to thrash and scream, until he stood and faced the door. Without another sound, or hesitation... he stepped through.

"Until I breathe my last breath, I will never stop walking!"
"Ehh?" Kenpachi groaned and tried to open his eyes. When they wouldn't open, he relaxed, letting out a heavy sigh before trying again. This time, the one, un-eyepatched eye drearily opened and he glanced around. Something was missing....Yachiru? No. She was curled around his neck. Hidan? He turned his head the other way and froze. Where the hell was he?! Did he fall off? The man leaned over the side of the bed. Nope. Did he go to the bathroom? He looked at the door to the lavatory. It was open and everythng was indisturbed. Where was he?
Making a face, he got off the futon and slid open the door to the outside. Where was Hidan? "Hidan!" He bellowed so loud it echoed off the rest of the Squad Eleven Barracks. "Hidan!" Then there was no answer, Zaraki snarled and marched back to his room where he threw on a clean shihakusho top and his tattered captain's haori and stomped out the sliding door. "Damn that kid..." He muttered under his breath, trying to be tough on the outside, but on the inside his heart was racing. Everywhere he checked around the barracks, the child was nowhere to be found. Damnit!
The moment a sharp cry pierced his ears, his protective instinct kicked in and he raced as fast as he could-and faster- to where he assumed his child would be. "Hidan!" But it was too late. He was gone. Gritting his teeth, Kenpachi roared his anger out at the door.
"HIDAN!"
